MOTION ACTIVATED MEMO PAD AND DOOR CHIME OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Description

Motion Pad is a motion activated memo pad or chime. When it detects motion within ten feet of its sensor, it either plays back a message you have recorded, or it sounds a chime.

Motion Pad can alert you of movement, or it can be used to deliver a message to someone.

By hanging Motion Pad in a well traveled area of your house, it serves as an excellent memo pad. Just record your message, and when someone walks past the unit, it announces your recorded message. "Honey, I went to the grocery store and will be back about 6" or "Caution, there is a ladder in the hall" are examples of useful messages you may wish to record on the unit.

"Don't forget to take out the trash" or "Its your turn to wash dishes" are also useful, although possibly less popular, messages you may wish to record for playback. Or, you may wish to record a verse a day from your favorite poet for inspiration or today's special as customers walk into your place of business.

Recording is protected by requiring that a key be used to record the message. This prevents accidental erasure of important messages.

Orientation

Remove Motion Pad from its shipping container and place it on a flat surface in front of you so that its dome-like motion detector faces up and is away from you.

Controls

On/Off Switch

Motion Pad's On/Off switch is located at the top of the unit on the surface farthest away from you. It slides to the right to turn the unit on and to the left to turn off the unit.

Once the unit is on, there are three buttons that control how Motion Pad behaves.

These buttons are located on the face of the unit toward the end of the unit closest to you. They are arranged with one button on the left(the record button) and two on the right. The button on top is the Chime button, and the one below it is Memo.

Batteries

Place four AA alkaline batteries into the unit as follows:
Locate the battery cover on the end nearest you.

Slide the battery container lock (located on the back of the unit) toward you and lift the cover off.

Notice there are two places to insert batteries, two on each side of the unit. Place the batteries on the left side so the positive end is toward you. Place the two batteries on the right side so the positive ends are away from you. Close the battery container cover and latch the cover by sliding the latch toward the top of the unit.

You are now ready to use Motion Pad

Operation

1. Turn the unit on by sliding the On/Off switch to the right. Wait for 30 seconds while the unit energizes.

2. Move your hand across the motion sensor in a side ways direction. You will hear a "chime". This indicates that the unit is now in "door chime" mode and ready to work as a door chime whenever someone walks by within its 10 foot range.

3. To operate the unit in MEMO mode, follow steps 1 and 2 above and then use the key to depress the MEMO button. Insert the key in the hole located in the center of the Memo button. You are now ready to record a memo by keeping the RECORD button pressed while recording and by speaking clearly into the microphone memory microchip located at the top of the speaker grill. (Remember that the memory microchip in your unit has a 10 second record time.)

To playback the memo, simply move across the motion sensor and your memo will automatically play back.

To shut the unit off, simply slide the operation switch to OFF. Remember that when in Memo mode, you can change your message as often as you like. Simply press RECORD and say your new message and your new memo is automatically recorded.

Placement

Place Motion Pad so that its motion sensor is oriented in the direction where the desired motion is located.

Motion Pad's rear surface contains a cut-out that makes it convenient to hang it on a nail or other fastening device. The unit also comes with attaching material. Peal the back part of the attaching material and affix it to the rear surface of Motion Pad. Peal the back from the other half of the attaching material and affix it to a smooth surface. Now hang Motion Pad on the material.

Trouble Shooting

A. Memo does not record: You are probably not keeping the RECORD button pressed while recording.

B. Voice playback is weak: Time to replace batteries. (Uses 4 AA batteries)

C. Unable to access MEMO mode: Press CHIME button once and then MEMO button once. You are now back in MEMO mode.
