Instructions for installing and Using SKRead Installation Description: When installed, the SKRead program will read your contacts as you down arrow in the Skype program. In addition to reading your contacts, the program will also automaticly tell you when: 1. When your contact comes online. 2. When your contact changes their status. 3. When your contact goes off line. 4. when your contacts sends you a chat message. 5. When your contact calls you. 6. When the call is terminated, it will read the total call duration time. 7. When the user quits Skype, SKRead will also terminate. Note: The Skread plug-in for Skype does not have an installation routine, it must be launched manually. To begin, follow the steps listed below: 1. Download the skread.zip file. 2. Extract the Archive. To Extract the zip file: A. Highlight the skread.zip file. B. Activate the "file menu" by pressing alt-f C. Down arrow to "extract all" and press enter D. Select the "next" prompts" and then uncheck the box "show extracted files", press enter on finish. 3. Launch Skype. 4. Locate the extracted folder and highlight it. 5. Copy the skread folder by pressing control-c 6. Navigate to "My Computer" and press enter. 7. Navigate to the "local C: Drive" and press enter. 8. Navigate to the C:\Program Files folder and press enter. 9. Paste the skread folder by pressing control-v 10. Press the enter key on the newly pasted skread folder. 11. Locate the skread.exe file and press the enter key. A. For any program wishing to interact with Skype, you must tell Skype that you give your permission for the plug-in to run. B. When you run SkRead for the very first time, Skype will pop-up and ask if you want to "allow this program to use Skype." C. There are three optional radio buttons you can choose in this dialog: Radio button 1. "Allow This Program to Use Skype": This is the ideal setting, and will permit SkRead to use Skype under your username permanently. Radio button 2. "Allow this program to use Skype, but ask again in the future": If you want to simply test out SkRead and aren't sure of committing yourself, you can use this option. SkRead will work, but you will be asked again the next time you run SkRead. Radio button 3. "Do not allow this program to use Skype": If you select this, of course SkRead will fail to function. D. Usually Skype will reject the plug-in but you still have to give your permission. E. If Skype rejected the plug-in, please launch Skread.exe again, you will hear a SAPI voice greet you by name. F. Focus on the skype program and try out your brand new accessibility features. For advanced users 12. Press the alt-f1 key to close SKRead. 13. If you do not like the voice, open the skread.ini file. 14. Down arrow to the line that reads voice=0 15. Press the end key and back space the 0 and replace it with a 1 16. Remember to always save the skread.ini file each time you alter the file. 17. Launch skread.exe again and listen to the voice. 18. If you don't like the second voice, repeat the steps by closing SKRead and opening the skread.ini file again. 19. back space the 1 and replace it with a 2, or 3, or 4, etc. 20. Launch skread.exe again and enjoy your favorite voice.
